Monarch Award
Centennial School Library Media Center is pleased to announce its participation in the Monarch Award voting.
The Monarch Award is Illinois' K-3 Readers' Choice Award. The Association of Illinois School Library Educator's established the award in 2003. The name Monarch was chosen because of its familiarity to K-3 children and to symbolize the growth, change and freedom that becoming a reader brings. The Monarch is designed to encourage children to read critically and become familiar with children's books, authors and illustrators. The program is open to K-3 age children in Illinois. For more information, please visit the Monarch Award website.
Students may borrow these books from Centennial School Library Media Center, Orland Park Public Library or purchase their own copy to own. Students must read a mininum of 5 books to participate in voting in March. We will read 5 together in library class so all students may vote.
Students who read all 20 titles and complete the student reading log will receive a prize from the library. Please keep the student log in a safe place. Thank you for your assistance in the program. We are looking forward to see which title will be the favorite at Centennial School and the overall state winner!
