Monarch Award

Centennial School Library Media Center is pleased to announce its participation in the Monarch Award voting.

The Monarch Award is Illinois' K-3 Readers' Choice Award. The Association of Illinois School Library Educator's established the award in 2003.  The name Monarch was chosen because of its familiarity to K-3 children and to symbolize the growth, change and freedom that becoming a reader brings. The Monarch is designed to encourage children to read critically and become familiar with children's books, authors and illustrators. The program is open to K-3 age children in Illinois. Students may borrow these books from Centennial School Library Media Center, Orland Park Public Library or purchase their own copy to own. Students must read at least 5 books to participate in voting in March.  As a class, we will read 5 books so everyone may vote.
